  • It is one of the largest railway museum in the world both for exhibition space (more than 36,000 square meters) for variety, extent and importance of the heritage exposed. It was set up in the seventies in the complex that was born in 1840 on the initiative of Ferdinand II of Bourbon as Pietrarsa Workshops for the production of railway equipment, which is connected with the realization of the first part of the Italian railway connecting Naples and Portici. In the five pavilions that make up the complex you can see steam locomotives, electric locomotives, three-phase, direct current locomotives, diesel locomotives, trucks, railcars thermal, carriages, model and plastics, antiques of the workshop, various examples of railway equipment, are also present an extensive specialized library and several multifunctional rooms that can host events, meetings and exhibitions.
